Global Health Innovations

Advancing health through research, innovation and technology.

Global Health Innovations (GHI) is a Kenya-based organization working at the intersection of health research, digital innovation and health systems strengthening to develop and implement solutions that improve health outcomes.

OUR STORY

From research to real-world health solutions

GHI has grown around a practical idea: research should not end with a publication — it should lead to better systems, better services and better outcomes.

2010

2010

HITSystem introduced in Kenya to prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission.

Expansion

Digital health systems implemented across health facilities in multiple counties.

Research & Innovation

Expansion into cervical cancer, maternal and child health, and digital health systems.

Today

Research, technology and health systems strengthening across 10+ counties.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The principles that guide our work

Evidence matters

We use research and data to understand health challenges and guide solutions.

Innovation should be practical

Technology should solve real problems faced by patients, providers and health systems.

Partnership creates impact

We work with governments, researchers, healthcare providers and communities.

Equity is essential

Health innovations should be accessible, appropriate and responsive to the people they are designed to serve.

WHAT WE DO

Capabilities that drive change

We work across four interconnected areas to translate evidence into practical health solutions.

Research

Clinical, social and implementation research that generates evidence for better health programs.

Digital Health

Designing and implementing technology that improves healthcare delivery, data management and patient follow-up.

Health Systems Strengthening

Working alongside health facilities and health systems to improve processes, services and outcomes.

Capacity Building

Strengthening the skills and capabilities of healthcare providers, researchers and implementing teams.

OUR AREAS OF FOCUS

Where we concentrate our efforts

Our work addresses some of Kenya’s most pressing health challenges through evidence-based programmes.

HIV & Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission

Improving retention, maternal viral suppression and early infant diagnosis through research and digital health solutions.

Cervical Cancer

Developing and evaluating systems that improve cervical cancer screening, treatment, referral and follow-up.

Maternal & Child Health

Supporting evidence-based approaches to improve maternal, newborn and child health outcomes across Kenya.

Digital Health & Health Information Systems

Developing practical technology solutions that improve health data, patient tracking and service delivery.

OUR INNOVATION PORTFOLIO

IMPACT STORY

From data to better care

Preventing mother-to-child HIV transmission with HITSystem

Through real-time tracking and SMS reminders, the HITSystem has significantly improved retention in PMTCT programs across multiple counties. What began as a research tool in 2010 has become an essential part of Kenya’s HIV response — ensuring HIV-exposed infants receive timely testing and treatment, and that mothers stay connected to care.

“The HITSystem reduced loss-to-follow-up by 50%, ensuring that more mothers and babies stay in care throughout the critical first months of life.”

Let’s build better health systems together.

Whether you are a researcher, health organization, government partner, funder or technology partner, we welcome opportunities to collaborate.
